Job Title: Grant Writing Officer
Location: Accra, Ghana

Reports directly to (Line Manager): Director of Strategy

Job Summary/ Purpose:

The Grant Writer will identify, define, and establish funding sources to support ongoing and expected program activities, as well as lead grant application preparation, writing, and submission of grants proposals. Also, responding to public and private funding possibilities in areas that support the College’s programs.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify new and diverse funding opportunities for specific projects and programs within government sectors, corporate and private organization to match College priorities;
  • Generates high-quality proposals, narratives, applications and supporting documents in response to solicitations consistent with all policies and procedures of College, and the requirements and guidelines of the funding agencies;
  • Track and prioritize grants to keep multiple projects moving promptly and meeting deadlines.
  • Resolve complex, technical, administrative and other problems or risks associated with developing proposals.
  • Coordinate and follow up on the progress of submitted proposals;
  • Serve as the college’s liaison on research development with campus constituencies involved in grant funding activities to avoid duplication of effort, submission of competing proposals, and improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Inform the supervisor on the progress of all grants and issues that may arise with each grant. Develop and maintain a master file on pending grants and contracts;
  • Maintain confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate cross-divisional activities and projects within complex industry and/or academic settings
  • Demonstrated progressive experience providing advanced research planning and proposal writing in industry or academia
  • Ability to use independent judgment, work well under pressure and communicate in a compelling and concise form
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Be highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to establish timelines and best practices for research proposals

Qualification Required & Experience:

  • The candidate must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communication or any related field may be preferred.
  • Have at least 4 years of work experience in grants writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management tools.
  • Conversant with processes of funding Agencies
